If it lies in hard creases during washing, the color will rub off at the crease lines, creating permanent light stripes. To avoid this: serge the cut edges before washing (zigzag or overlock), turn the fabric and sewn items inside out, do not overload the drum, wash at 30 degrees on a delicate or gentle cycle with liquid detergent, and spin only at a low speed (maximum 400 to 600 RPM). Remove from the machine immediately after washing, shake out, pull into shape, and air dry.
