I fiddled with the pattern for a long time, improved it, scrapped it... until I had figured out the perfect fit with corresponding practicality. Working on it, I caught turban fever, and our oldest daughter wanted a turban beanie too... and actually, so did I... (I talked our two-year-old out of it, as he already has a pirate hat). The turban is designed for elastic jersey fabrics with elastane and fits perfectly on the head thanks to the cuff shaped with darts. The seam was moved to the front and hidden under the knot, so that the hat also looks great from behind. You can find the matching fabrics here.
As an adult, it is perfect for tucking away long hair (or hiding a bad hair day). I was out and about in a turban very often this summer (there will be a photo as soon as I have found or taken one where I don't look completely silly and where the apartment in the background doesn't look like it was raided).
